Parents ...

The Montessori School of South Riding community means students, teachers, parents and grandparents caring for one another. We all work together to ensure that our students can thrive academically, emotionally and spiritually. Parents entrust MSSR with their most sacred possession: their children. We take that responsibility seriously. We believe parent involvement is critical to a student's academic and personal success.

The MSSR-PTA mission is to build a strong sense of community and a high level of participation among parents. All MSSR parents, along with staff, and alumni, are considered to be members of the PTA. Parent volunteers run the association, and membership is free. The MSSR-PTA, as all independent school parent organizations, exists to further the school’s mission through volunteer work, fundraising, and special events. Parent involvement offers the opportunity to meet other parents, become involved in the South Riding Community, and support The MSSR School.

During the school year, the PTA sponsors several events including: Back to School Picnic, Fall Photo Shoot, Holiday Parties, Puppet Shows, Book Fairs, Casino Night Auction, Breakfast for Dads, Mother's Day Tea, and Teacher Appreciation Week, just to name a few.

The generous contributions of our current parents, grandparents, parents of alumni, and friends allow us to continue to challenge our students to academic excellence, responsible leadership and community involvement. Your cooperation to this year's MSSR activities will enable us to:

  • Recruit and retain the finest teachers
  • Help with our scholarship fund
  • Help us continue our much needed support to our Center in Peru

The combined resources and talents of The Montessori School of South Riding parents are formidable. The PTA seeks to coordinate these resources and talents to provide a platform for interaction, cooperation, and socialization among the parents. All parents are invited to attend the meetings, volunteer their time toward the sponsored activities and events, and contribute their ideas and suggestions that serve to improve the organization and the various enrichment programs offered.
