The Montessori School of South Riding is a non-profit Primary School for children ages 3 to 6 years old. MSSR is one of thirteen schools in Virginia and the only bilingual Montessori school in Loudoun County recognized by AMI-USA. Founded in 2003 by Carmen Arenas using the principles of Montessori education, MSSR is a warm, enriched environment designed to stimulate the child’s natural desire to learn.
MSSR offers a Primary Program for children ages 3 to 6 in which skilled professionals, sensitive and responsive to the learning patterns and needs of each child, help the child to grow in confidence, independence and knowledge. At the Montessori School of South Riding there is a special blending of freedom and responsibility, choice and structure, creativity and discipline, individual interest and group co-operation.
The Montessori School of South Riding is one of thirteen schools in the state of Virginia that is accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), and is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services.
WHY AMI MONTESSORI?
While the name "Montessori" may be used by any school, the educational standards, teacher training and materials may vary widely. Dr. Maria Montessori began Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) to insure high standards in Montessori schools.
Teachers at MSSR are professionals, with college degrees as well as Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) training. Teacher training is rigorous with standards set according to Dr. Montessori's design.
